Shortlisted for the Inspiring Science Award: María Natalia Lisa

My research focus is the
molecular architecture of life. I am interested in how proteins
support particular structures to perform specific tasks in
living matter. In the last years, I’ve been working with
different protein systems involved in bacterial fitness, and I have made contributions
to our understanding of the structural basis of
activity and regulation of proteins involved in bacterial resistance to
antibiotics and also similar transactions
in bacteria. If I have to give a piece
of advice to young women pursuing
the science career, I could say: be yourself;
trust in yourself; pay attention to your curiosity; make questions; have ideas; follow the beauty;
fight for your rights.
