Oscar Isaac – Green, Green Rocky Road

In the movie “Inside Llewyn Davis” I
play mostly Dave Van Ronk songs, so I locked into his style of playing, which is this ‘Travis
picking’, very synchopated, almost rag-time-like way of playing. Performing in the film I was
able to really focus and feel like I was by myself there.
Uh, tonight I’m shitting a brick. (I’m) so fucking nervous right now, uh, but excited
too, you know, but the fact that I’m on this stage, sharing it with these people… At
least in the movie, you know, I don’t have to follow, you know, Jack White (laughs).
(music) When I go by Baltimore
Leave no carpet on my floor Come along, and follow me
We’ll go down to Galilee Green, green rocky road
Promenade in green Tell me who you love, tell me who you love Now see that crow up in the sky
He don’t walk, he just fly He don’t walk, he don’t run
Keep on flappin’ til’ the sun Howling green, green rocky road
Promenade in green Tell me who you love, tell me who you love Little Elvira runnin’ to the wall
Don’t you stumble, don’t you fall Don’t you think, don’t you shout
When I sing come runnin’ out Howling green, green rocky road
Promenade in green Tell me who you love, tell me who you love Now hooka dooka, soda cracker
Does your mama chew tobacco If your mama chews tobacco
Hooka dooka hooka dooka soda cracker now Howling green, green rocky road
Promenade in green Tell me who you love, tell me who you love Now when I go by Baltimore
Leave no carpet on my floor Come along, and follow me
There’s a man in Galilee Howling green, green rocky road
Promenade in green Tell me who you love, tell me who you love (applause) Thank you
