June Oscar AO Wiyi Yani U Thangani Women’s Voices

The idea about engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and girls across the country… …came from a number of conversations between myself and Indigenous women in this country… …the last time a national consultation process was undertaken, that engaged Aboriginal women and Torres Strait Islander women, was 32 years ago. So we thought, it’s time. We’re keen for women and girls to have contact with us and know that they will be talking to experienced… …team members who have been out in community, working, listening, sharing and recording… and at the end we want them to feel confident that this process has been inclusive, it has listened to their voices… …and that we can elevate their voices to the spaces of influence in the decisions that are being made about the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.
