Jennifer Lopez’s Reprised Green Versace Dress Deserves Its Own Oscar Buzz – News

Friday was the fourth day of Milan Fashion Week, and up to then, things had been pretty quiet We saw A$AP Rocky’s return to Europe, and Kaia Gerber suited up as a Picasso painting, but otherwise, a pretty normal few days in the fashion capital But there were signs that things were about to get more interesting. First, Jennifer Lopez touched down in the city and was spotted in a monochrome, pastel-pink Sally LaPointe look, complete with a hat that would make Pharrell Williams’s 2014 Grammys topper jealous Then a few VIPs got an invitation to Friday’s Versace show that featured a familiar green palm-leaf print on the back  On Friday, the reveal: Lopez walked down the runway in a gown that looked extremely familiar To close Donatella Versace’s presentation of her spring 2020 line, Lopez wore a dress that featured the same green, palm-printed chiffon, and a similarly daring cut, as her iconic 2000 Grammys dress (You know, the dress that gave the world Google Images search.) The two dresses aren’t exactly identical, however The 2000 dress featured long sleeves, sheerer chiffon, and a skirt that wrapped further around the front The 2020 dress features some Space Age-equse pointed epaulets, and a slightly flashier gold brooch at the navel  The rest of the Versace show featured looks that referenced the 1990s, like acid-wash jeans, broad-shoulder blazers, and neon prints Perhaps it’s a sign that Donatella has picked up on the fact that Generation Z is fond of the era  With her role in the strip-club-scam film Hustlers getting her some serious Oscar buzz, Lopez is in the midst of a major career renaissance—and, as many of her scenes in Hustlers do, the Versace reprise was a reminder that she is both 50 human years old and physically ageless Forget a statuette—at this point she’s definitely aiming for the history books. — Our cover story: Lupita Nyong’o on Us, Black Panther, and much more— The 2019 Vanity Fair Best-Dressed List is here— The nine-figure bill for Trump’s “very inexpensive” golf habit— Lori Loughlin finally gets a win— The Hamptons chose its presidential candidate Looking for more?
