GRAMMY AND GETTING HER MOMENT IN THE SPOTLIGHT. Reporter: ON MUSIC’S BIGGEST STAGE ON MUSIC’S BIGGEST NIGHT, FOR A FEW MOMENT THE WORLD GOT A GLIMPSE OF WHAT THE STUDENTS AT HUNTS POINT HAVE LONG KNOWN. THEIR OWN MUSICAL HERO, IN HER OWN RIGHT. THEIR BAND TEACHER AND KNEW GRAMMY WARD WINNER MELISSA SAG. IT WAS THIS SUBMISSION VIDEO THAT SHE PUT TOGETHER THAT HELPED CATAPULT HER TO GRAMMY GOLD. AN HONOR ACKNOWLEDGING HER COMMITMENT AND DEDICATION. HER DAY WITH HER STUDENTS OFTEN BEGINNING BEFORE SUNRISE. WE ARE SO MUCH NEED FOR THEM TO BE IN THE CLASSROOM. Reporter: FEATURED WITH SOME HER FIFTH GRADERS, SHE FIRST GOT TO THE SCHOOL AND THERE WAS NO MUSIC PROGRAM. 22% OF THE STUDENTS HERE ARE HOMELESS. NOW SHE TEACHES THEM NOT ONLY WITH INSTRUMENTS, SHE USES CREATIVE HEATHER ODDS TO INSTRUCT THEM AS WELL. IT HAS TO BE — SHE USES CREATIVE METHODS TO INSTRUCT THEM, AS WELL. YOU CAN MEET A PERSON THAT IS SO IMPORTANT IN YOUR LIFE. AND THAT WILL TEACH YOU DIFFERENT THINGS ABOUT LIFE AND STUFF. NOW, IN ADDITION TO TAKING HOME THE GRAMMY, MISS SAG ALSO WON $10,000 FOR HER SCHOOL AND SHE GOT A $10,000 CHECK FOR HERSELF, WHICH SHE SAYS SHE
