Hi. I’m Melia Bensussen, the new artistic
director at Hartford Stage, and I’m really delighted to invite you to the
first play of this new season. It’s a new American play, an adaptation of a great
novel, with fabulous music and an extraordinary cast. And it’s very funny.
It’s an adaptation of Cervantes’ Don Quixote de la Mancha, but it’s really
an American play about life on the Texas- Mexican border. It’s also about aging and
family and lost love. It’s a play that those of us who get to experience it in
the rehearsal room can’t believe how much we laugh and then how we all end up crying at the end. I can’t wait to share it with Hartford audiences.
